Early 2014
The code behind the Tracking system for fedex.com was proving a bit too brittle to handle all of the future enhancements that were planned. I advised that we take a bit of time and rewrite the entire applications with a stronger pattern.
I used the non-framework of Qubed Peas to help out here. It did not introduce any new libraries or required processes. The developers had almost nothing to learn short of some best-practices on writing Object Oriented JavaScript. It was a great fit.
Findings
I lead a highly-motivated and talented team in rewriting the application in 4 months. An amazing feat considering that the previous version took more than a year to build. At over 100,000 lines of code there are plenty of chances for mistakes. But Qubed Peas helped tremendously here as we reduced the application’s defect count by more than 95% in the process.
Using Qubed Peas was fantastic. There was almost no developer train-up time, and the components that were created have already been reorganized into several different applications with almost no work.
