iPad Native, Backend REST/Java services
Concept, Design, Coding
With the release of the first iPad I created a dedicated app to solve many gamer needs. This was a combination of all the platforms of the Game Tracker series as well as an entirely new backend system to support it. This one introduced:
This was a big product with a lot of elements to contain. The design had to consider this.
The design here allowed a customer to feel like they had their own notebook filled with bent pages and notes on their games. The notebook theme fit in well with the demographic as well.
Full SQLite support was now required as there would be 10’s-of-thousands of titles and a variety of customer data tables that needed to be queried. The first iPad was stretched to its CPU limits with so much data and interactivity.
A complete cloud-based set of services and data managers also had to be constructed. A RESTful interface was introduced in conjunction with MySQL and Java servlets. A set of backend jobs were also needed to summarize and aggregate user information for the recommendations engine and user lists.
