Early 2010
The Game Tracker family of apps had strong and vocal community, and changes to the mobile space and devices required regular updates to the apps. With the iPhone 4 came a lot more power so it was time to put some of that to use.
Design
This was the beginning of our color theme becoming solid. Version 4.0 introduced all-new iconography and concepts. The multitude of filtering and exploring was in full bloom here. Some mistakes were made and had to be rectified after talking to some users. For instance the tab shown here as Search was first namedĀ Explore. And within that tab the search field could be found. This proved to be undiscoverable by users and was altered.
Technology
Still based on a set of XML services I wrote and maintained in the cloud, the 4.0 client used a local SQLite database to keep track of data, updates and edits. Several custom controls, like the sliders seen on theĀ Search tab and the rating component on the detail page. There were also more animations in the product to help with all the information.
